Mishirasu pear
Mishirasu is a cold-hardy Asian pear with dark brown, crunchy fruit that is less rounded than other Asian pears, with a slight elongation like a European pear. It ripens mid- to late-September and stores well.
It is good for fresh eating, salads, snack platters, juice/cider, or anything else you can think of.
Early-flowering variety that for pollination purposes should be paired with another early-flowering pear variety.
Disease Resistance:
The USDA pear genebank has found Mishirasu to be free of scab in at least one of their studies.
Parentage:
Found as a seedling in Hokkaido around 1887.
